Different setups for some models of Husqvarna saws  up can be selected. The options are the xp model, xpw model, and xpg. The xp model is the standard setup, small dogs and *half wrap handlebar. The xpw is the setup that comes with the bigger pro dogs and the *full wrap handlebar. The xpg is the model for cutting in cold conditions, with its heated handlebars.

* The 575xp and 372xp are the two models of Husqvarna saws that I know the best. At work the 372 was the preferred fire saw for most of the crews on the Plumas National Forest, so I was exposed to it there. Its a great saw would highly recommend it, but they are getting harder to get a hold of. The 575 is the model I personally own and love it, plenty of power. The 575 will pull a 32" bar no problem.

* Half wrap handlebars are stock features on all small and medium size chainsaws, and are ideal for general cutting. They allow the operator to cut very close to the ground when felling trees. Most professionals from east of the Rockies are familiar with this style of saw. West coast operators tend to prefer the full wrap handlebar configuration. This allows the operator to handle the saw from the bar and chain side while making undercuts in large softwood trees. The full wrap handlebars also offer additional protection to the saw if it happens to be crushed by a heavy object. However, cutting close to the ground is difficult with full wrap saws, due to the protruding handlebar.
